His background is in the development of computationally applied theoretical techniques surrounding statistical mechanics and thermodynamics, including novel software development and extension of existing software for the numerical simulation of molecular dynamics. Blake’s PhD and post-doctoral work at Curtin University involved the use of computer models to understand how biominerals and organic materials crystallise at the molecular level.
At The Kids, Blake will focus on the calibration, validation and/or reparameterisation of OpenMalaria, a world-leading mathematical model of malaria transmission and intervention dynamics. This work supports improvements to this important malaria simulation software supporting innovative research, with the potential to influence public health interventions and policies.
