Targeted at children aged 6-12 years, this rhyming storybook incorporates Noongar language and features full-colour illustrations by Noongar illustrator Tyrown Waigana. Through the voice of Djet, a young Noongar girl who loves fishing with her moort (family), children learn that staying sun safe and looking after their skin helps keep them mighty and strong. Alongside her moort (family), Djet explores simple sun safety practices including seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, hats and sunglasses, and using sunscreen. The story promotes strong families, connection, healthy skin and lifelong sun-safe habits to protect ourselves while enjoying time outdoors.
Developed as part of the Moorditj Marp (Strong Skin) project, Djet's Big Bite and Ngangk's Bright Light is the second storybook in the community-led Moorditj Marp Healthy Skin Storybook Suite.
