Masculine norms influence men's health and wellbeing. In Australia, interest in the role of these masculine norms resulted in an assessment of masculine norm adherence being included in the Ten to Men Study, measured using the 22-item version of the Conformity to Masculine Norms Inventory.
Automated insulin delivery (AID) improves glycemia in people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, concern remains about early worsening of diabetic retinopathy (EWDR) following rapid and large glycemic improvements. This study evaluated diabetic retinopathy (DR) outcomes in adolescents and young adults with T1D (aged 10-30 years) following AID initiation.
Burkholderia pseudomallei is a facultative intracellular pathogen and the causative agent of melioidosis. Treatment of this deadly infection is both protracted and limited to only a select number of antibiotics. Not only can patients suffer adverse reactions to prolonged therapy, but resistance has also been reported in several clinical isolates.
Ewing Sarcoma of the pelvis has poorer outcomes than other anatomical sites, with complex anatomy often precluding resection with wide margins. The role of postoperative radiotherapy (RT) in improving outcomes remains undefined. A systematic review using Medline, Embase and Cochrane databases (1972-April 2024) evaluated postoperative RT's impact on local recurrence, event-free survival and overall survival. Twenty-nine retrospective studies (21 to 296 patients) met inclusion criteria, with 28 rated good quality.

To date, research on best practices in digital parenting has been hampered by the absence of a well validated measure that reflects the mutli-faceted realities of parenting in the contemporary digital age.
Men’s Sheds offer promising sites for unique health promotion opportunities, and while prior work has identified potential mechanisms that may support wellbeing, these mechanisms are yet to be empirically clarified in the Men’s Shed context. This study investigated the relationships between engagement in Men’s Sheds, social identification, social connectedness, social support, and wellbeing outcomes in Men’s Shed members in Western Australia.
There is a greater prevalence of multiple sclerosis (MS), a neurological autoimmune condition, in populations living further from the equator, hypothesised to be due to reduced sunlight exposure. There exists a proven sunlight surrogate therapy for dermatological inflammatory conditions, in the form of narrowband NB-UVB phototherapy. Yet, there is a paucity of randomized trials of the therapeutic delivery of NB-UVB beyond dermatology for conditions with a systemic inflammatory component.
With young adults' rates of mental health problems alarmingly high, understanding resilience characteristics that help young people adapt, adjust, and even thrive in the face of stress is a pressing need. This study takes a daily diary approach, examining four resilience factors, measured a priori, covering multiple domains. Young adults' daily stress responses (reactivity, recovery, inertia) during the globally stressful lockdown period three years later were then explored as key outcomes.
Indigenous communities are under-represented in genomics research, contributing to inequitable health-related knowledge, outcomes, and benefits. Under-representation reflects enduring consequences of colonial research practices that have engendered cultural, ethical, legal, and social (CELS) concerns among communities.
Sensory integration therapy is used widely despite an inconsistent evidence base. To overcome the limited availability of high-quality research, Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) was manualized and a revised fidelity measure was developed following the identification of the principles of ASI®. The aim of this systematic review is to examine the proximal and distal effects of interventions in studies that explicitly reported the use of or adherence to the process elements of the fidelity measure.
