Who can take part in the study?
- Youth experts: We would like to speak with young people (14-24 years) who have had experience working in partnership with adult researchers in a health and/or wellbeing research projects.
- Adult researchers: We are interested in speaking with researchers (>24 years) who have at least 6 months of experience in engaging in co-research or co-design with young people (14-24 years) or have integrated substantial, on-going adolescent consumer involvement through a formal mechanism.
What will participation in the study involve for me?
Youth experts
- Take part in a 1:1 chat online with a C3 team member about your experiences working with adult researchers. We would like to learn more about your role on the research, wat you enjoyed and what you would do differently
- Take part in 2 short surveys to help us rank what skills and knowledge are important for adult researchers to have and what items need to be included in reports that describe youth partnerships in research.
Adult researchers
- Take part in an online interview to share your experiences on critical skills required to meaningfully engage young people in co-research or co-design. We will also explore what are essential reporting items.
- Take part in 2 rounds of a short anonymous online surveys to rank and reach consensus around core competencies and essential reporting items.
Who has approved this study?
The ethical aspects of this study have been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) of The University of Sydney (ethics reference: 2024/HE001649) according to the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.
