The C3 Story
What is this project about?
- The importance of involving young people in research that affects them is beginning to be understood better.
- Research groups are using different ways to engage young people to provide opportunities for them to share their views and ideas and lead work.
- Information on what skills, training and support young people require is growing.
But what about adult researchers?
- What skills and knowledge do they need to be able to share decision-making power with young people and to create a safe environment for young people to lead?
- What has worked really well? What needs to change?
- We’d like to speak to young people and adults across Australia who have experience in health research to figure this out and ensure that we are getting it right!
Joining the C3 Committee
Who are we looking for?
- We are looking for passionate, driven young people (16-24 years) who have experience in working in partnership with adult researchers to lead or inform health and wellbeing research.
- We’d like to hear from you if you have an interest in changing how young people are viewed or engaged in health and wellbeing research.
- We welcome young people with a diversity of life, learning and working journeys - you do not need to be studying health and wellbeing or doing research yourself to be considered.
What does being on the Steering Committee involve?
- Attend online group meetings (6-8 meetings) over a 12-month period and take part in discussions, brainstorming and decision-making. Meetings will be about 2 hours long.
- Respond to emails/messages to follow up on meetings.
- Be involved in specific project activities depending on interest (e.g. designing social media campaigns or storyboards for short videos).
- Gift vouchers to appreciate your time and ideas will be available after every meeting attended.
