Hepatitis B (HBV) prevalence is very high in pregnant women in the Dolpa district of Nepal, a region characterised by a remote geographic landscape and low vaccination coverage. Using mathematical modelling, we evaluated the impact of third-trimester tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) prophylaxis on HBV burden and estimated the time required to achieve HBV elimination in Dolpa.
Eating disorders (EDs) are increasingly recognised among neurodivergent and transgender and gender diverse (TGD) individuals, yet most assessment and treatment models remain grounded in cisnormative and neuronormative assumptions and frameworks. Sensory processing, spanning interoception and exteroception, has been proposed as a potential factor that may help explain observed associations between neurodivergent traits, gender incongruence, and EDs.
The transport and Golgi organization 2 (TANGO2) gene has been identified to cause a rare recessive genetic disorder known as TANGO2-deficiency disorder (TDD). Otitis media (OM) is the leading cause of childhood hearing loss but its burden in low-middle-income countries like Papua New Guinea (PNG) is poorly understood. We aimed to determine the proportion of children aged ≤15 years attending clinics in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province, PNG with OM and associated risk factors.

Despite potentially harmful consequences, people routinely encounter alcohol adverts designed to increase consumption of alcohol in preference to safer alternatives. However, individuals differ in the degree to which such adverts elicit preferential alcohol consumption. This study builds upon and extends prior research by testing hypotheses concerning the impact of biased processing during advert viewing on subsequent alcohol craving and consumption.
Adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) policy has strengthened globally over the last three decades, but country-level barriers to implementation perpetuate health inequities for adolescent girls. In Vietnam, implementation of ASRHR policy remains challenged by persisting structural and socio-cultural issues and has yet to reduce the high prevalence of adolescent pregnancy in ethnic minority communities.
There is a growing understanding of how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia define healthy ageing. Little is known however about how aged care services can support their healthy ageing needs. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore community and service provider perspectives on how home-based and residential aged care services can best support the healthy ageing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
